Title: 2013 - 2018 apparently use turbo Speed in the vane calc
Post by: me78569 on March 31, 2018, 04:20:01 PM
Found it funny, I remember Steed saying "why would you use shaft speed to control the turbo? OEM doesn't"

well looking at the ecm files cummins trucks 2013 + use shaft speed as well.   The efficently map of the turbo could be pulled from the files.

anyways looks like even cummins decided that shaft speed helps when controlling the turbo.

I use it for anti-bark and keeping the speed within reasonable limits.. I think there is use for it beyond that but I haven't done any work for a long time with it.. have to fix my bad piston or whatever is ailing my truck first before I go further

I found shaft speed helpful to keep the turbo in the fat area of the map.  I had no use for the turbo to sit at 130,000 rpm while towing, so I kept my curve setup to keep speeds in the 100,000 area unless I was at wot.

Yeah, something happened.. it's a little soft on power too.. Hopefully the bore/pistons are alright... I got another daily driver now anyhow though.
