Dyno numbers

Got my truck on the dyno finally... had some code problems at first... mapping was wrong... 52 psi boost at 2500 rpm surged the turbo in a bad way... 152000 rpm... oops!
Fixed that and it ran good, I think I could use a better fuel supply and the dyno wasn't perfectly calibrated to read engine speed but all in all I think I did ok... 436 hp from 2200 to 2800 rpm, torally flat... just missed hitting 1k torque. .. 998 ft lb at 2250 rpm.

I did buy a BD intercooler for a good price and will install it at some point.. they apparently just came out with a 64.5mm he351ve they call the screamer. .. like usual they want an arm and a leg for it. .. and your firstborn

I'll post vids and pics up when I get them done

You stay under 130k ? 128-129 ? I've considered letting my shaft peak 133 by lowering the acceleration values

I have it all data logged... I'll post that up as well
I ran to about 126000 with the vanes full open... 36psi boost

Here's a CSV file you can open with all the data from the run.. still haven't got the pyro hooked up... one of my "I'll get to it" things... Maybe now that I have the new intercooler I'll do it when I install it since I'll do a before and after temp reading as well

And here's the dyno sheet... it sure looks like my fuel supply just peaks out at 430 and that's just as much as it can deliver... I did find a aeromotive A1000 at a pawn shop... that pump is good for about 1200 hp, and for $120 I can't go wrong with it.  I also want to put a fuel pressure sensor on it so I can datalog that as well... *sigh* so much to do!

Nice work.

You say mapping was wrong, do you use a look-up table? Or are you RPM based?

Rx7man

it's a lookup table, but I had the VGT at a position of 400 at full throttle... it has to basically be wide f*n open.. if you look at the logs you can see it

need a bigger turbine egp slowly climbs with rpm over boost?
so at 2488 rpm 33 map to 43 egp but at 3000 rpm 33 map to 55 egp
maybe a waste gate would pick some power up
If you run again i would see about logging AFR most dynos have one.
be interesting to see

oh and 152k turbo speed dam

#8
for reference my 2.3 at 4500rpm 13.7 afr 28psi boost egp is around 33.5 psig depends on my exhaust leaks lol
leaner the mixture higher the egb
turbo shaft speed around 128k

Rx7man

Yeah... I'm pushing the limits of the hot side and the cold side! If I could put a bigger turbine on it and a 64mm compressor it would go a long ways... BD came put with a new vgt last week but I think the hot side is stock and they want stupid money for it
.. perhaps if I found an hx40 with a bigger turbine I could do some machine work and make it fit

Yeah.. I punished that poor thing pretty good

On diesels I don't know if afr's are too relevant... egt's are usually watched closely though...
On diesels your fuel input is pretty much proportional to your torque out,  the limiting factor is getting the air into the engine to cool it to a tolerable level... every style of engine is different!... I probably flow 120% more air at 2200 rpm than you do at 4500... nevermind when it gets up to 3k

data logging the afr would give us an idea on how much extra air is going thru the motor.
You would then know how much more fuel you could add or add waist gate and reduce pumping loss.
I think diesel starts getting smoky below 18afr. I think the afr and boost to egp are related.
like you were saying your moving more air total agree the higher egp proves it.
What I don't know is how much engine braking 10 psi egp gives. but you could simulate it going down a hill and get an idea.
a1000 is an awesome pump roush uses it for there propane powered drag mustangs.

Rx7man

10 psi is virtually no braking... you can probably get a rough idea of the afr from my drag strip run.. heavy haze but not coaling at the top
