Few questions

I got my truck straightened out and my old fleece Controlers is working! I would like to maybe keep running this turbo if I don't change to a cw? Either way they will be sent to machine shop to build them for my class specs!
Everyone I talk to says the cw will make more power but I like the vgt and thought about running a external gate on the manifold (I got all the stuff anyway) that's what I plan to do from the time I put the charger on! I got a electric boost controller that goes to 50 psi that I figured would be bout right for the job if I can build that much boost with bigger turbine and a 63 comp wheel?

But if I decide to go vgt route how much is this controller going to cost and does it have exhaust brake switch and a dial like the fleece does?
Can u tell me a little about it?

And the truck is a 01 Volkswagen truck but I may pump later also so would I have to buy two controllers if I switched, will I guess my question is do the controller hook up to the can-bus on the vp truck?

I'm guessing this is an 01 DODGE?  and you may P-pump it later?

Cost of the controller is $100 and something I think?  Yes, it does have inputs for engine brake, etc

The hardware of the controller can certainly connect to the existing CAN bus, but may take some programming to read data from it

Yeah sorry it's a vp at the moment and I may ppump it later, I was thinking I read on here the controller was plug and play as far as sealed box for the controller and wiring harness?
Did u not go that route do u have to wire the board and do all the wiring to it, I thought I read u say something about it was going be 400 bucks?

I'm not in charge of pricing and have the old version of the controller, so I don't know what's changed.

All the components are already soldered to the board, it has a molex connector that interfaces it to the "outside world"  I had to wire that part of it, it's not terribly hard though.  I don't think the controller needs to be interfaced to the vehicle CAN bus though.

Yes the standalone is $400, you just need to wire it up. Relays, fuses etc, are not included as every installation is different. I would suggest since it's a second gen, using a simple vampire fuse off the radio (inside the cab, fuse area) to power the LBB.

I don't know how the fleece controller is setup, if it powers the VGT or not, or you had that wired up with a relay off the battery inside the engine bay.. etc...

For basic LBB integration all you need is 4 wires from the harness, to go into the engine bay. VR sensor connection, and the CAN BUS connection.

The LBB cannot be used to power the VGT turbo (15A+), you can however use the 5v output if you do not have an ignition power wire, to trigger a basic automotive relay.

i am also considering buying the standalone version of this controller for my industrial repower. it is mentioned a bluetooth android app for programming...but thats it. i was wondering what the app gives you for tuneability. i need to be able to limit the amount of boost specifically...is this doable? it is going in a john deere skidder that is going to be worked daily...not my weekend race truck. any info on the app would be appreciated as it is only mentioned on the site

The only way to reliably control boost pressure would be with a wastegate. There's a point that the motor will eventually spool up the turbo even at full size. It certainly won't hit 125k rotor speed, but it'll be spinning 100k maxed out

Full program-ability still available through your PC and changing the code on the device. You may need to change the entire idle sequence, etc.

It depends on the power level.. If the engine is over 300 HP it'll possibly make more boost than desired even with the vanes wide open.  That said, why do you want to limit the boost? I'd try to limit the fuel at that point which would keep EGT's down.  I don't see why it wouldn't work just fine on a skidder.. is it a Clark? I know they had the 5.9's.  Should work just like an automotive application.

i guess you are right it will controlled by my fuel tunning just as the old turbo. it will be running at 250hp or less. will take some dialing in but i think will be much better than the non gated h1c which is way past due on a rebuild.

it is a john deere 648e...engine swallowed a valve and i just cant justify the crazy deere costs. i just love these cummins engines. been around them most of my life and cant beat the reliability economy and costs.

only real reason im considering this setup is i already have everything except the controller from an old project. i also like the idea of the water through the turbo for helping warmup times..it gets cold here during winter. engine is already mated to the jd powershift its just time to get her running

Well you can use the brake to warm it up faster too :)
