Title: 12 valve first gen cummins
Post by: 12v1stgen on March 01, 2022, 05:19:15 AM
I have a 92 dodge w250 stock turbo currently but I just picked up a HE300VG off a 6.7 5500 cummins. I know nothing about coding or anything.  Basically what I'm saying is if I buy the standalone lil black box will I have to program it or anything. Will I be able to just buy the box and a exhaust brake button and be done.  Also what do the modes do. How do they work and do I need separate switches or something I'm new to this all. I have a mechanical background and I know how to run wires and stuff like that but as far as a stand alone computer I'm clueless

It is a bit of a DIY solution, so you'll need to add the switches for what modes you want to use.

They are extremely simple, they just need to switch to ground to turn on the modes.

Brake makes the turbo size the smallest it can be, which is a pretty decent exhaust brake
Cruise is to keep the turbo from really spooling up much and is designed for long periods of flat road for least restrictive exhaust
Performance just adds about 2cm closing to the turbo at all positions until it hits the top end. So it spools a bit faster
