Can't watch vids from here.. I'll try and do it when I get a good connection...

I guess someone's done it already?... Just have to make mine BETTER :P

just watched it.. pretty much exactly what I have in mind.

Doing nothing but controlling the stepper motor, I can get about 1000 RPM out of a 200 step motor... I'll see what it looks like once the CPU gets loaded up doing other stuff.. it'll still be plenty fast enough anyhow.  You look at that fellow's other videos? He's got a VGT setup as well on a 4BT.

Ya that's mister steed, I've emailed him back and forth a couple times for collaboration. He makes the banshee controller series.

Here's the stepper I'm thinking of using.. 12V 6 wire means only 4 transistors for output, which makes that a lot easier.. with an IGBT like I mentioned a while back it's directly TTL driven... I've also been working (in my mind) on how to reduce the power to the stepper for when it isn't turning.. a 5th output  would reduce the the 12V supply to the center leads of the motor down to lets say 5V and avoid a lot of heat buildup.. I currently have it so it shuts it down after X number of iterations with no movement, but just a low power mode would be better as it would still hold it in place.   Now to find a small enough ACME screw...
