anyone have a build thread for their he351ve installed on a 12v? What signal inputs are needed? RPM/TPS/MAP/etc..?
just looking down the road to up the power in my 95 12v soon.
thanks.
BJ
Nothing, the controller is enough, I added rpm to mine just for a tiny bit better off idle response

I have one on my 12V... my code and hardware is not "out of the box".. I wanted to be creative :P
Hakcenter, correct me if I'm wrong here.. but the barebones you need is MAP, EMAP and turbine speed for inputs, right? TPS and RPM can be used for refining it down the road

No barebones needed, the VR sensor on the turbo is all I've ever used. It is honestly the primary I would tell anyone to use. Shaft speed can get completely out of control using just MAP / EMAP without monitoring shaft speed, and if you're monitoring it... might as well use it.. cause it works great :)
anyone have a build thread on your trucks?
good to know that it's basically a complete system.
i'm looking to use for daily driving and towing...not really hot rodding.
i'm under the impression that i can use a 6.7 manifold as well?
thanks guys.
BJ
Yes, I have the 6.7 manifold on my truck.. came with the turbo... will have to fab up a downpipe though.. probably want to make EGR blockoff plates as well..
I'll see if I can find some pics of my setup
Rx7man,
thanks...i'm looking at picking up a 6.7 manifold, but wanted to ask questions before i get to heavily invested and find out it may not work out for me :-).
btw...does the exhaust brake work with the black box too?
BJ
yes, exhaust brake works fine.. I have a TPS on my truck, and it engages a partial brake mode when your revs are up and you let off, it's REALLY nice when towing and you just want a little holdback.. then I have the shifter mounted switch that gives full engine braking power.
Here's a vid of my truck pulling a 6 ton trailer of hay on some winding dirt roads

it's not a race truck.. but it's still got some get up and go

Oh, on the FB cummins forum group there's a 6.7 turbo and manifold for sale.. doesn't have a price listed.. located in florida

I'm planning on doing the same I'm building a new 12valve With 100hp injectors with a 6.7 manifold he351ve setup for towing with best economy . I already have a arduino uno. So to me the sheild version would make sense. But from what I understand I can use the sheild on its own ? Correct me if I'm wrong ... but what are the advantages of running the shield version if it's already stand alone . I'm also new here so sorry for the odd easy questions I'm trying to learn . Thanks
nice race!
very cool. i think i'm sold. i had to request to join the site you listed. we'll see how that goes. shipping to Hawaii from FL will kill, but we'll see what the selling price is first...lol.
what injectors are you running again? 7x009? what's the 5 hole "equivalent" of that? 5x14?
thanks.
BJ
I am running DAP 5x012 and 052 delivery valves on a 160 pump

The shield is not a stand-alone, it requires an arduino uno
The stand-alone is stand alone :)
If you go arduino shield route, just be aware you'll have to come up with your own diy box etc etc etc
I found a number of cheap DIY boxes on Ebay.. I'm ordering up a few of them... 119x50x80mm boxes were about $3, with a waterproof lid.

I plan on the standalone...don't have the time to piece together and code a setup...which I'm sure is fun...but would rather drive and use it instead of test/dev...and the wife wouldn't be too happy either...LOL

cool to know. I may end up getting a fuel "kit" from PDD folks too. They said their AFC Live will work with the LilBB setup too.
BJ
Yes, the AFC live acts on a totally different part of the engine than the Lilbb
