Well.. yep finally blew my HG haha!
Cylinder 5 of all things, but whatevers. 2 leaks into the coolant, and 1 into a near by oil passage. Seemed to only really be an issue under boost until the oil part blew up.
I had sweating on the overflow hose, looked weird, rubbed it off and it was oily. Thought meh. Noticed it again a week later, might as well pop the radiator cap off, OMG SO MUCH OIL hahaha
So, after some fastnel bolts (100$), and a new cummins gasket, moar powah time.
Sweet... How'd the install go?
Hope it holds together now :)
I have been thinking I should really do studs.
What bolts did you use?
12.9 12mm allen head quote unquote mighty head bolts, for a lot cheapers. 95ftlbs + 1/4 turn
I think they're a good replacement for stock bolts, but the don't hold a candle to real studs.. price is good though :)
I was looking at the ARP 625's.. DANG they're expensive! ($1200 USD)...
Yea no thanks.
With the timing tuning I am doing via the Quadzilla I really need Studs to prevent my dumb tuning.
Homie says he's got trucks 700-800+ running the mighty bolts without issue.
I think it all comes down to prep. People not lubing the bolts etc
Welcome to my world. Head gaskets? Who needs those?
I just used jb weld, I'm good to go
I'm really in love with propane.
