Most of those calculators are for N/A engines, turbo lag is a courteous head start.. even though I did pretty good off the line, you can see about 10' after the launch it's bogging a bit until the turbo really lights up, stays lit through the shifts pretty good though... Raced an '08 6.7 and we were REALLY close.  Got a lot of comments about the truck, people loved it, and everyone was like WTF?? that farm truck is racing?.. then they found out it actually ups and F*'s off pretty decently.

Last run I hot-lapped it and they did a bad job on the water box, making it hard on the clutch.. well.. my last pass I smoked the clutch the whole way down the track, I was on and off the throttle and just lighting it up every time.. seems to have recovered as I let it cool down though

I have to feather the throttle in 3rd otherwise I just get bad wheel hop and axle twist, definitely a lot faster in 4th and 5th, haha

It sure is fun to mess with people all day on the freeway, oh you think you're passing this slow old truck, nope. Oh you thought you were fast hold on let me clear that up for you.. Where'd they go ?

The best is people trying to race on the streets, and they think they've won cause 2nd gear can't even put power to the ground, after I get out of 3rd into 4th its just goodbye, as I wave at them.

exactly... a few of my old classmates were there.. some of the hot chicks from back in the day.. farm boy in the old dodge put up a show!

First couple runs I had my baffle in the stack, then I took it out.. don't think it made a power difference, but it sounded more impressive :P..

nice video
shut down a smoky 6.7 Saturday. Just did not feel like following his smoky ass back on to the freeway.
especially since he decided to roll coal coming off the freeway
slide 1 of the 20 60 lbs bags of concrete into the tailgate. but no traction issues  ::)

With the concrete me and son truck was close to max weight. but still less then 4500 lbs.
been thinking of dropping exploder running gear under the ranger and go to LT tires.
Then I would have decent payload nothing like your guys.
but going from 1200 to 2400 lbs pay load would be nice.
and 4 wheel drive would be nice if we get a good snow storm. :)
going from 28 spline to 31 spline axles I would worry less.

traction issues suck.. perhaps next time I'll put some tractor weights on the back..

here's a good picture of my 3rd run, that's a 1970ish Challenger with a 428 Hemi.. he got me by 1/10th.. I think if I'd have done a 4wd launch I could have had him. I had run 1/10th faster than his time in other heats, though perhaps he could have done better too.. either way it was a DARNED close one

hell yeah
I wonder if singling out the rear would help or hurt.
I'm pretty sure it would help trap speed.
no idea on et.

I had thought about it.. but for the show it's good to have a work truck in work clothes putting down whatever it can.. If I really wanted a drag truck (it might happen someday), I'll put an auto tranny in it as well... not sure if I'd do up a 4x4 or a single cab shortbox and put slicks on it... benefit to the 4x4 is you can put different shoes on it and go bogging

I raced against a  08 Ram 2500 with a 6.7, on that run he got me by a hair as well (no vid :'( )

Found someone else that took some good pictures of the event

Got coal?

Against the 08 Ram with a 6.7.. don't know what he's got done to it, probably chipped

This one had a few comments, and was probably the race that surprised people the most

I pretty much holeshot everyone, especially once I did 4x4 launches it was pretty much untouchable

I can't remember for sure, but I think that was a 2wd launch.. notice how it only huffs smoke momentarily while in the first vid it really laid the black smoke out.. Perhaps the turbo was spooled up better before, or the tirespin kept the engine RPM higher and lit it up far quicker.

I think in the future I'm going to redesign the staging logic and just have it keep a certain pressure over and above compressor pressure.. probably about 30 PSI.. next year I might launch from a little higher an RPM as well.. maybe 2500 instead of 2000ish
